Artifact 1: Design Critique Guide

Description

The design critique guide was crafted to highlight fundamental principles noted in Conrad & Davidson (2012)* that were not included in the MOOC course hosted on Cousera.org.

*Conrad, R. M., & Donaldson, J. A. (2012). Continuing to Engage the Online Learner: Activities and Resources for Creative Instruction. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass.

Rationale

The artifact indicates my ability to constructively use theory and "best practices checklist" to critique an online learning environment. As a participant, I was able to point out areas that a typical user may perceive as convenient, and effective. Similarly, using literature perused in class, I was able to highlight certain aspects that could be improved, thus enhance the overall learner experience. This activity aligns with the set AECT standards as it enables me to be cognizant of the appropriate theoretical and practical processes as well as educational resources that create an optimal learning environment.

Artifact 2: Parents Basic Soccer Guide

Description

The storyboard was created to illustrate a visual plan for a basic soccer guide aimed at parents whose children play soccer, and have no idea what the rules of the sport entail.

Rationale

I included this artifact to highlight my ability to reflect and create a visual map of a soccer guide. This helped shape the overall guide flow as I was able to logically prioritize critical elements to include, and discard those that I deemed ineffective. Aligning with AECT standards, this artifact evidences my ability to manage resources and select processes that inform decisions as well as improve the learning environment.
